Ink Blot Brush

Ink Blot is a brush I created in order to do a book cover for my brother. After I did the cover I wanted to use it for everything. It's best used with a WACOM pad to get a realistic splatter effect. You just have to work at it a bit to make the spatter look authentic.

Directions:

This Is for Photoshop CS. Open the Brushes Palette. The settings are...

Brush tip shape:
Diameter = 40px
FlipX/FlipY = Unchecked
Angle = 0
Roundness = 100%
Hardness = 100%
Spacing = Checked, 25%

Shape Dynamics:
Size Jitter = 100%
Control = Pen Pressure
Minimum Diameter = 0%
Angle Jitter = 100%
Control = Pen Pressure
Roundness Jitter = 0%
Control = Pen Pressure
Minimum Roundness = 100%
FlipX/FlipY = Checked

Scattering:
Scatter = 109%
Both Axes = Checked
Control = Off
Count = 8
Count Jitter = 0%
Control = Off (You can change this one but I've found Off to work the best.)

Texture:
Pattern = Bubbles (The first pattern.)
Invert = Unchecked
Scale = 1,000%
Texture Each Tip = Checked
Mode = Multiply
Depth = 54%
Minimum Depth = 41%
Depth Jitter = 0%
Control = Off

Dual Brush:
Pick the "star, 70 pixels" brush. It's on the generic brush palatte.

Diameter = 70px
Spacing = 1%
Scatter = 863%
Both Axes = Unchecked
Counr = 2

Other Dynamics:
Opasity Jitter = 0%
Control = Off
Flow Jitter 62%
Control = Off

AirBrush: Checked
Smoothing: Checked

And there you are, your own Ink blot Brush. Here's a sample of what you can do with just that brush and a bit of text.
